Afternoon tea service is becoming quite popular at fine resorts and bed and breakfast inns around the country and at Valhalla Resort, we want to keep up with the trend. In fact, we are finding that afternoon tea is fast becoming the new “happy hour.” It is a great way to relax and enjoy a cup of premium tea and some light refreshments with friends. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to unwind after a day of hiking, golfing or any of the other assorted activities Valhalla has to offer.
A bit of history and background of the afternoon tea ritual can be traced to our English ancestors. It was a social custom that evolved over time, and today it is enjoyed by people all over the world. In the early 1800s, afternoon tea was a simple meal of tea and bread, but over time it became a more elaborate affair with a variety of sweet and savory snacks. In the mid-19th century, it became a social event where people gathered to gossip and enjoy each other’s company.
Valhalla’s TeaTime is our newest amenity offered exclusively to our hotel guests. Gather and enjoy a cup of tea from our premium Tea Forte’ line and baked goods from the Valhalla Bakery and visit and unwind. Valhalla TeaTime will be a casual elegant service offered every afternoon from 3-4 p.m. in the beautiful Highlands Room which overlooks the sparkling pool and stunning views mountain vistas. So pour your “spot o’ tea”, enjoy a savory or sweet treat and and enjoy a moment of reprieve from daily life. Our new premium tea line will also be added to our dining menus, spa tea service for spa guests and available to purchase in The Twiggs Gift Shop.
